Telling Our Stories
"This is the true joy in life, the
being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty
one." (George Bernard Shaw)
Honoring Who We Are
Our real work has little to do with our job description.
It's about who we are as human beings. When we share our
stories, it honors who we are. Being recognized validates our
purpose and achievements, and connects us with others in the
highest way, opening pathways for powerful communication.
"I was very moved when I read my
co-workers' stories. It's wonderful to know these things about
them." (C.D., Secretary)
Mission Statement Booklets
These booklets are a collection of stories told by staff
members, describing their important experiences at work. Often
the stories mirror the qualities of the group's mission
statement by reflecting the unique gifts of the individuals
who make up the school or organization.
"Honoring our staff is the most
important aspect of professional development". (K.E.,
Administrator, Timberline Secondary School)
Retiree Booklets
Retirees are recognized and appreciated through the
opportunity to share their outstanding memories and valuable
experiences of their careers.
"I think the process you used was
extremely effective, especially in giving people notice to
plan what they would say and an opportunity to change a few
things. I really appreciate your efforts and I will certainly
cherish my booklet over the years." (R.W., Retired
Teacher, S.D. 72)
Making it Happen
Select the members of your organization that you would like
to be honored. Email their names and phone numbers to Annie
Jack, who will arrange a short interview (about 15 minutes)
with each. Stories are written and compiled into a booklet,
including the organization's logo and mission statement, if
desired. A camera-ready, master copy will be mailed to your
office for printing. Stories may be posted online at no
charge. The fee is $100 per person, which includes costs of
telephone interviews and follow-up calls to verify stories.
